Once upon a time, children's clothes were a bland, nursery-food version of the flavoursome fashion served up for grown ups. Mummy might have a ball switching from wonderland white to gothic black, or from maxi to mini, after an afternoon studying Vogue or Bazaar, but the little ones were stuck in pink and blue, and in pinafores and Peter Pan collars. Not any more. Children's fashion has blossomed into a fun-size version of high-end style. The clothes on these pages are to catwalk fashion what canapes are to gourmet cuisine: cuter, more frivolous, less guilt-inducing, but just as delicious. The mix-it-up mood on this autumn's catwalks looks even better on the kids.
