In the world of Muchacha you’ll find giant mushrooms, strange white rabbits, sparkling butterflies and cuddly toys by the thousands … the Japanese designer Makako Shinya Masako could almost resemble her knitted doll: with a red-spotted dress and big black eyes, rocked by a unique and extraordinary world. Muchacha clothes could have come straight out of Harajuku, the trendy district of Toyko, with their mix of prints, fluorescent colours and improbable characters, found on brooches, bags or teddy bears. The fabrics all come from Okinawa in Japan and are chosen with great care by the designer for their originality and quality. This season, Makako has formed a partnership with the illustrator, Nathalie Lété; some of her designs can be seen on the brand’s T-shirts, dresses and bags this summer.
